Topic
A transformation process to authority for people who take responsibility for leadership.

Abstract
Since I began to transfer the concept of the so-called ‘new authority’ to leadership and

organization more than 15 years ago, I have been asking myself: how can it be

achieved that people who have a rather authoritarian or rather anti-authoritarian

attitude towards authority enter a process of change and turn to this new attitude of authority?

As part of my scientific research project on the transformation of authority

(University Bremen, Germany), I have developed a transformation process with six

phases or fields. As people transform by moving through these six fields, they are more likely to embody the different attitude to leadership-authority.

In my WALKshop, we walk through these six fields of transformation together. I will

explain each individual field: important aspects, what it means and on what scientific research my findings are based. And maybe some of you will also sense a gentle, transformative “prickling”…

Even though these fields of the transformation process were developed for the context

of leadership in companies, I can imagine that it will also provide inspiration for other

contexts such as schools, educational institutions or communities.
In this workshop I will work with sociometric methods for spatial visualisation, dialogue and transfer in small groups. There will also be the possibility for Q&A.
